Online Donations at www.islingtonunited.org
Islington United Church can now accept online donations through CanadaHelps, a not-for-profit organization set up specifically to make online giving to charitable organizations simpler for their donors – and allowing charities like Islington United to receive online donations without the expense of setting up their own secure donations site. This will allow you to give to Islington United from your computer using your credit or debit card on a secure site.
The process is simple:
Go to Islington’s website www.islingtonunited.org and click on the “Donate Now” button near the top of any screen. This will take you directly to Islington United’s page on the secure CanadaHelps website.
You will be able to take advantage of various donation options including:
- Monthly gifts (instead of envelopes or PAR)
- Gifts for special appeals (e.g., Lent, Easter)
- Gifts to the Mission and Service (M&S) Fund
- Gifts to Islington’s trust funds
- Celebration, honour or memorial gifts
Enter the amount that you want to give then indicate if this is a one-time gift or one to be deducted monthly from your credit card.
Scroll down and select the fund to which you want to direct your donation. Regular offerings are for the General Fund but there are special funds from which to choose, as well (e.g., Lent, Easter). Follow the rest of the instructions working through the simple, easy-to-use screens making your donation with your credit or debit card. You will receive a confirmation of your donation by e-mail and, almost immediately, your CRA-compliant tax receipt. There is a small fee of 3.9 percent charged to the church for each transaction.
This program has been well researched, including the level of security offered by CanadaHelps. Furthermore, CanadaHelps does not sell, trade, share or otherwise misuse donor information in any way.
