For 11 days, from July 6-16 or July 20-30, youth will be immersed in this active and growing community.
Islington, once a small village on the outskirts of Toronto is now a changing community. Newcomers and Refugees to Canada find housing in this area, from which local after school-tutoring programs and a food bank have sprung. The congregation of Islington United Church continues to change and evolve as historic residents and newcomers for a new community.
Halifax, gateway to Atlantic Canada, has thrived as a prominent port situated on the world's second largest natural harbour. St. Andrew's present congregation is drawn from the south side of the city, but people attend throughout the metro area. About 400 families are part of its pastoral charge. Its active congregation is focused on Sunday worship, yet also has extensive community outreach programs.
For youth interested in attending both programs, the bridging program (July 16-20) will assist youth in the transition by accompanying them from Toronto to Halifax, through programming and sightseeing along the way.
