Administrative Assistant


Reports to: Site Coordinator

Role of this position

• To enliven the vision of Mission in the United Church of Canada
• To participate with GO Project Summer Team to create and maintain the integrity of the mission program
• To interact with participants, parents and sending organizations to ensure a positive experience

Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant is responsible to:

• Assist in daily administrative needs with sending organizations, host churches, site programming and future GO development  projects.
• Model and teach The GO Project values and beliefs about children and youth, faith development and community living
• Act as a support to site coordinators
• Represent the GO Project in the church, with the community and in all that you do

Typical Duties

• Liaise with all programs in a supportive role (i.e. daily check-ins with site coordinators, etc.)
• Be knowledgeable of and be prepared to implement fire, safety, first aid and other emergency procedures if necessary
• Support programs as laid out and make adaptations when necessary (i.e. schedule maintenance, menus, posters, etc.)
• Support sending organizations with final payments, mission agreements, registration packages, posters, etc)
• Meet weekly with Go Project Coordinator
• Design and produce 2012 advertising (i.e. postcards, registration packages, updates to website)
• Email and phone correspondence
• Contribute to program morale through general support to all GO staff
• Work with LIFE program youth
• Assist with one fundraising initiative in coordination with volunteers from Islington United Church

Qualifications

• Prior Administrative responsibilities
• Past youth mission experience
• Experience in youth leadership
• Knowledge and experience responding to emergency situations

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of youth leadership activities
• Knowledge of vision of the GO Project
• Experience and comfort offering leadership in a Christian environment
• Able to work in an environment where interruptions are frequent
• Able to work effectively in the midst of multiple and varied work demands
• Knowledge of Microsoft excel, word, outlook and other computer design programs
